In 1981 Andrew and Sally St John visited the
Outer Hebrides and fell in love with the wild beauty of the islands, the charm
and hospitality of the crofters, and of course the tweed – the world’s most
famous fabric Harris Tweed. More visits followed in between filming and
farming. By the end of the decade an idea had taken shape.

They made it their mission to use this fine hand woven cloth in new ways, combining innovative design with the best of British craftsmanship and in 1992 Glenalmond Tweed was born. The original waterproof Harris Tweed handbags are to this day made using Harris Tweed combined with a rubber solution onto cotton canvas.
Since then Glenalmond Harris Tweed bags and luggage have been sold all over the world from Barneys New York to Isetan, Tokyo. They have also presented clothes collections designed by guest designers including Michiko Koshino and Antony Price.
The current range can be viewed at our Perthshire showroom, on our website and at selected shows and events throughout the year.
